At NENS Power we have been renting generating sets to businesses, authorities, associations and private individuals since 1980. These are the 7 commonest applications. Can you think of any others?

The benefit of generating sets?

Generating sets generate power autonomously. They are used if no or insufficient electricity is available and there may be several reasons for this:

  • No certainty about availability of mains power due to outage of power stations
  • Bridging if work is announced on public electricity grid
  • More power temporarily needed than is available with the electricity installation present
  • No mains power connection present on the site where the electricity supply is needed
  • Public grid is available, but too great a risk of outage due to temporary overload

7 identifiable practical applications

Sometime a continuous power supply is literally a question of life and death. In hospitals a power outage, however short, has dramatic consequences in critical care departments such as operating theatres, intensive care units, etc… This is why healthcare institutions have permanent and autonomously operating emergency power units that take over the whole electricity requirement immediately and in full.

Mobile generating sets are also a priority concern for temporarily set up hospitals and field hospitals. Extra emergency generating sets are even provided to cover all the risks.

Certain industrial processes require continuity. Machines operate 24/7 and must not fail under any circumstances. Examples are industrial processes where permanent cooling or rotation is crucial for safety. Or network servers and data centres where a permanent back-up energy supply and mobile generating sets are also a must.

With mobile generating sets you can go on working until the power comes back on or while you are waiting for your mains connection. Also, in public sites and construction sites mobile generating sets with external fuel tanks keep the machines running.

With a compact power generator you have music and lighting for your float throughout the whole parade or carnival procession.

For public events in an open space, parks or fields there is often no mains power supply available. In addition, the mains can often not cope with the sudden extra demand without endangering the public power supply.

When a ship is moored or at anchor the ship’s engines are not producing any power. Both on board and ashore, mobile generating sets cover the demand. Also, in case of a different mains frequency (e.g. 60Hz for American ships) we have suitable solutions at NENS Power.

With special reefer distribution panels and generating sets containers stay refrigerated on the quay or in temporary storage locations.

Do you always have enough power?

Do you recognise one of the above situations or do you have a very different situation for which you need temporary power?
